Covalent Materials is the former Toshiba Ceramics. The managers of the former company made a decision to execute a management buyout, resulting in the separation from the Toshiba Group and the inauguration of a new, independent company.
From the establishment of our original company and over the course of 80 years, Covalent Materials has built a business founded on proprietary materials technology which includes silicon wafers, semiconductor and liquid crystal process materials, and advanced ceramics.
We have established a unique position as a leading-edge materials maker in up-and-coming, high-growth areas, including the semiconductor field. Our success to this day can be attributed to creating highly functional products using our proprietary materials technology and our activity in new, high-growth fields related to the semiconductor and liquid crystal markets.
After the management buyout in 2006, Covalent Materials became independent from the Toshiba Group and was delisted from the stock exchange. The resulting change in capital policy meant that the Company became responsible for its own direction and performance, while it also gained the flexibility and self-determination to pursue mid- and long-term management plans without being hindered by short-term planning or market volatility.
Covalent Materials has been able invest in its management resources in a bold and focused manner so as to excel in a highly competitive field that is predicted to show high future growth. We aim to transform our Company and manage long-term growth under this framework, which had not been possible before the MBO.

The name of our Company represents this concept.
